I wonder... [Nov. 5th, 2009|07:15 pm]
Aulayan
Do many people still check Livejournal?

I troll around it, checking for updates to webcomics, but that is all I use it for. Occasionally I see something new from Eben Brooks or Tom Smith, but they're creators. Paul Kemp as well, but everything he puts on LJ he mirrors up on Facebook.

So, is this still used by people? I know I have not updated in over a year, since I moved to the cornfields that are Noblesville, Indiana.

How is life here you ask? Bor-as-fuck-ing. I'm too shy and inward, so I don't meet very many people. Work can be...stressful to say the least. But the move was a positive one, especially given how it seems Masquegon is swirling down the drain ever so consistently. Indiana's not much better than Michigan, but by luck, this county is rather well employed. Certain places are always looking for workers (Though that may just mean high turnover. And hiring a lot of people with more pride than brains).

I work at Petsmart, which is odd. As A Pet Products Associate, which is a fancy name for Merchandise Movement associate, which is a fancy name for Stocker. (Depending on the week, corporate letters call us any of those 3 things. Whatever happened to Employee? Or Truckmonkey?) To be in retail is very odd, to find myself going up to total strangers and -talking- to them...is extremely weird given how I was just a year ago. Yet I'm still socially inward. I cannot explain.

I don't watch much television anymore, and I read sporadically (Though our local library is quite awesome). In fact, the only piece of awesome television I have seen semi recently would have to be Children of Earth. Seriously. Watch it.

Hm. I really should feed my cat, but she's been sleeping quite well. It's hard to feed her when she's sleeping, since I don't want to disturb her. I am odd that way, and in others, I am sure.

I can't promise any updates further than this. For I have no idea if anyone still reads this bloody thing. Or if I'll have any inspiration. The news is the news, and I still read it, but I don't look deeply into it. Well unless it's about the new Iranian quasi-revolution. I FB status the fuck out of that.

I am now married, *and* living just northeast of Indianapolis in Noblesville.

Life is strange and varied. And also consists of many, MANY, boxes.

In 3 hours, a ceremony shall start that ends my bachelorhood forever. Next time I post, and knowing me it will be in 5-7 months (I suck at posting), I shall be married.

...At least my last name stays the same.

Voter Suppression [Sep. 11th, 2008|04:33 pm]
Aulayan
"We will have a list of foreclosed homes and will make sure people aren't voting from those addresses."

Republican Party Chairman James Carabelli, Macomb County (Michigan)

Yes, in at least one county in Michigan, if you have your home foreclosed, your vote will be challenged. And Michigan does have quite a few foreclosures.

But that isn't all.

In Virginia, there was a voter-registration drive at Virginia Tech. The local registrar of elections issued two releases incorrectly suggesting that students could lose scholarships, coverage of their parents car and health insurance, and no longer be claimed as dependents if they registered to vote in that county, rather than wherever they are from.

And in Mississippi, the governor and secretary of state have decided to place the race for the United States Senate at the bottom of the ballot, in hopes it will be overlooked. This may be in violation of state law.

Editorialism time. The middle one, of Virginia, does not seem to be a dirty Republican trick to me. College towns and counties are often trying to suppress college students from registering to vote, because they are worried of how it may shake up local elections. So they often find lies to spread to colleges so the students don't register.

"She asked the library how she could go about banning books."

Regarding Governor Palin, then Mayor Palin

Mayor Palin: Stuff that scares me. Not the actual title but...Holy shit she reminds me of Bush. "I'm Mayor now. You're all fired so I can have loyalists!" Jesus...

Dozens Detained Ahead of RNC.

Dozens of people who were SUSPECTED might PROTEST the Convention in St. Paul were rounded up by police, had their homes raided, detained on charges as flimsy as "Fire code violations" or "Conspiracy to cause a riot". Because, protest rallies are riots. Yeah.

Yeah. No questionable police enforcement in this country regarding politics. Not at all.

Politics [Aug. 30th, 2008|06:47 am]

Barack Obama's speech was seen by approximately 38 million people.

This gives me hope.

"She's not prepared to be governor. How can she be prepared to be vice president or president?"

Alaska State Senate President Lyda Green, Republican.

John McCain's Vice Presidential pick is most interesting. She has been governor of Alaska for a little over a year and a half. She is accused of attempting to get her former brother-in-law fired from his job as a State Trooper. Alaskan Politicians sure are drawing the investigations lately. She believes that intelligent design and creationism should be taught in schools, that women should not have an abortion even in cases of rape and incest. She has threatened to sue to prevent the Polar Bears from being placed on the endangered species list. She is the only one candidate on any major party that does not believe in global warming being caused by human activity. On the amusing side, her husband is a steelworker, in the union, and the union has denounced her. And, what I find most interesting. Is McCain first met her in February of 2008 and was apparently impressed and put her on the list of those he was considering for the vice presidential slot. And the next time McCain spoke to her was this past Sunday, where he either offered it to her, or discussed it with her. Of course, being Alaska, she has a ridiculously high approval rating.

Now, what has she done in the past day as being the Vice Presidential pick? She publically announced her son's departure to Iraq including the date he is going there. This is a violation of Operation Security, and this is why John McCain never speaks of his son's service in Iraq, to avoid any violation.

One day I'll post good news... [Aug. 29th, 2008|02:19 am]
Aulayan
Wow, Yesterday was in many ways a bad day.

First, at work I suddenly come down with something that made me go home early, and steadily feel worse throughout the day until I was able to finally get it out of my system by throwing up. ... And that made me feel a lot better, for two hours and then steadily got worse again. And currently I have a major headache and still feeling rather wobbly.

And then star2trouble had a anything that can go wrong moment. She goes to get her wedding dress altered at a local business...and they treat her like crap, sending her all over the city to get material then telling her "Maybe you should wait until you get to Indy to do this."

But that was just a minor annoyance, really, compared to what was coming. We had one final meeting with our minister and due to my illness I couldn't attend, but she still went there. And she was told our minister double booked and had to cancel. So now, with a few days left before she moves to Indiana, we have to scramble a meeting with a replacement minister and go over everything. *sighs*

Yeah, not a good day.

Look, a post! [Aug. 22nd, 2008|10:08 pm]

Well, life has been hectic.

The wedding is less than two months away. Things are falling into place, and star2trouble has gotten a job in Indianapolis. We have an apartment in place there (Well, in Noblesville) now, and she'll be moving soon and I will follow after the wedding. Scary exciting stuff.

Speaking of scary things, I actually went to church the other day. Okay, some of you might say "Unitarian church, doesn't count" But nyah, it so does :P Anyway, surprisingly I enjoyed the experience.

... I thought I had a lot more to say, and if I was more awake I probably would. But anyway, that's the small update of my life.

Teaser Trailer for the Avengers. [Apr. 29th, 2008|09:48 pm]
Aulayan
There's an Iron Man movie coming out. A new Hulk movie that's hopefully going to be good. Supposedly there's some cross promotion between the two. So yesterday at work, my mind came up with a trailer (And just a trailer) for an Avengers movie. Of course, the main scene driving this trailer would be longer in the actual movie, with more of a back-and-forth dialogue than the mostly monologue presented in the following.

Starring Sam Jackson as Nick FuryCollapse )
